The Salzburger Marionettetheater employs 10 puppeteers who are trained in a variety of occupations, some of which are handicrafts. All the puppeteers have one thing in common: musicality, craftsmanship and the ability to immerse themselves in the various characters of the puppets in order to breathe life into the puppets on stage. The Salzburger Marionettentheater has its own playing technique, which was developed at the theater. Many puppet theaters around the world have taken this technique as their model. Training as a puppeteer, which takes place exclusively at the theater itself, requires as much time and perseverance as learning a musical instruments
