GREASE 40 years ago was the first time in Chicago over the stage and is still regarded as one of the most popular musicals in the world. For the current anniversary tour successful director David Gilmore was committed, who for the German-speaking countries, the musical once again revised.
His staging of GREASE sparked the beginning of the 90s, a veritable revival of Grease at London's West End and in Great Britain. It was listed almost without interruption, and by audiences and critics alike celebrated euphorically. To date, this production is the most successful GREASE production of all time.
"The new production of GREASE, and this dedicated and talented ensemble will delight the audience!" Gilmore is convinced. And indeed, the musical had its premiere in Germany in the 18th November 2010 at the Capitol Theater Düsseldorf immediately audiences and critics on his side: "Under the direction of Gilmore with a musical GREASE has been brought to the stage, which offers two hours the best entertainment acts and not a bit dusty. Musically the trip in the '50s convinced of the first to the last minute, "the verdict of the West German newspaper. While the Neue Rhein Zeitung noted, "successful companies Pettycoat: Big applause for a lively and brightly colored GREASE-production!"
GREASE - this is pure dynamite, as here, freaky teenage excitement in fast choreography, soulful vocals and poignant dialogue is translated numbers. Parties, fun and romance soon becomes clear that to this day both the desire and have not changed after the excitement of first love! And it is refreshing to experience in this exciting first-ever staging of this "High School Musical", brilliantly accompanied by furious rock'n'roll and DooWop sound the Fifties are alive.
Lead actor of the 25-member, all-new Grease ensemble Sanne Buskermolen are ("Sandy"), which could inspire in the past as Sarah in "Dance of the Vampires" the audience and Lars Redlich ("Danny"), known for its vivid illustrations in "Mamma Mia!" and "Hairspray."
Both are the new GREASE-perfect couple in this romantic, sentimental, wonderfully self-deprecating, energetic, fast-paced cult musical.
History:
As unique as the musical is its success story: what can be a crazy idea into a boozy night, the authors of Grease, Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey guessed early 70s not sure. Their love story between the shy and the cool Danny Sandy, who meet again after a holiday romance to school year under the new sign at Rydell High School, was one of the finest high school romances.
With a five-hour production, which in 1971 was the first time in Chicago and across the stage in 1972 with a seven and a half-year term on New York's Broadway with 3388 performances sold out in GREASE has become one of the most successful musicals of all time.
Not least, the legendary film adaptation of the musical in 1978, with the sang, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as the new Hollywood dream couple with rousing songs and soulful ballads in the hearts of viewers around the world made GREASE to what it is today. The soundtrack of the film in the U.S. ranked number one 12 weeks, until February 1998, he was 244 weeks in a row in the top five U.S. pop charts.
With their rock and roll - the musical about high school love adventure, set in the 50s Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs created a classic that was rightfully a model for other high school musicals and as a timeless cult of the world's stages is inconceivable without it.
